Jolted Back to Life

Posted by Marvin | Daily Journal | Friday 27 March 2009 10:07 pm

Not that I was dead or anything, but if I remember correctly, my last entry was January 6, 2009. It was not because I feel like not writing at all, but more of exhaustion, really. Immediately after the first week of 2009 classes, I was in for probably the busiest months of my life EVER. (more…)

Crazy Day: Puppies, Spanish Bread and Kim Chiu :D

Posted by Marvin | Daily Journal, Events | Tuesday 6 January 2009 5:29 pm

KalokohanAnd who say’s nerdy professors don’t know how to have a good time? The whole tiring day was nothing compared to the fun we had today at the CS Faculty Room.

All day long, we laugh at almost trivial things when the boys and girls get together.  You won’t even notice we’re college professors.  From the serial comedies Sir Irvin downloaded (chastity belt that electrocutes the horny, anyone?), to the photo funia mania courtesy of Sir Joni and Sir Jay.

And what this fascination about.. puppies?  Seriously guys, stop looking for Eda Nolan already, the poor girl did notice it coming.  Neither did Marian Rivera.

80 pcs. of Spanish did not even slow down these naughty boys.  Photo funia continues and who better to victimize than me and Sir Dex.

Attention Sir Dex!  NEVER get absent next time :D

Alan’s got me a Notebook Cooler!

Alan's giftsFantastic!  Despite not attending the Faculty Year-End Party (because of my nuisance allergies), My name was drawn by none other than Mr. Alan Goyena for our exchange gift thingy.  Surprise surprise!  He got me a real nifty USB Notebook cooler with a laptop sleeve.  Really very handy for a (poor) gadget freak like me.  Thanks Sir Alan!

In my case, I drew the name of none other my colleague and former professor, Mr. Irvin Villanueva.  I got him a… wait!  I can’t say yet as I haven’t given him the gift yet :D   Let’s wait till Monday next week for that :D

Finally, Thanks to Mr. Cloyd San Juan, our College Dean, for giving me a much-needed pair of sandals.  I heard the party was a blast, and our SA, Lyza Iris Dura, joined the fray as well.  Heard she also picked up a new admirer along the way :P

Happy New Year Again!!

FOUND: An excellent, heartwarming Harry Potter Fan Fiction

Posted by Marvin | Discoveries :D | Saturday 3 January 2009 4:41 pm

I haven’t really been a fan of the whole Harry Potter Universe until I read the last book when it came out last year. It was then that I began to re-read the whole story from the first book and extensively research every Wiki I can find about anything and everything about the HP Universe. The story turned out alright, though I cannot discuss the specifics here. Suffice it is to say, like many other stories that linger into the general population’s mind, the story ended happily. Potential Storm to greet 2009?

Posted by Marvin | Events | Thursday 1 January 2009 11:42 pm

Latest Screenshot Courtesy of Digital-Typhoon.org and Typhoon2000.comOuch. I thought all windy days and the chilly evenings were just a part of the cold season. It appears that mother nature has decided to greet us in a “stand-out” kind of way.

According to the website Typhoon2000.com, a low pressure area just east of Mindanao is continuing to organize and might threaten the eastern parts of the Philippines.  Of course, that includes our little locality called Camarines Sur, here in the Bicol Region.

Hope everyone knows enough to prepare but not overreact.  The impending storm might still spare us altogether, but it’s better to be safe than sorry, right?

Happy New Year!

“When we once begin to form good resolutions, God gives us every opportunity of carrying them out.”  – John Chrysostom.

My Wife and her world-famous (naks!) Mango Crepe

I am glad to have opened this year by celebrating it both with my family and my wife’s family.  I am glad that my in-laws, the Cerdiña’s of Jose Panganiban, Camarines Norte, agreed to celebrate the new year at my humble abode.

As for the menu, my ever favorite homemade spaghetti (their recipe, no cheese, uses pork instead of beef) is definitely to die for, as well as my wife’s mango crepe.  Not to mention the Inihaw na Tilapia, Chopsuey and Chicken Steak (courtesy of my Mom) which made me really guilty as I started this year pigging out again :( .

Well, I did stop at one point :D .  But the damage has already been done.  I will need at least 3 days of good Cardio Exercise to burn all of these stuff off.

A lot of stuff on my mind right now.  After all I did just commit on at least six new years resolutions.  Still makes me wonder how on earth will I fulfill them all, with my track record (confidence level at zero here :D ), but as usual, we’ll never know until we have tried.

Good luck to everyone.  Have a blessed 2009!

Regenesis… Again?

Guilty as charged :| .  This is my nth Blog and yes the previous ones were not updated regularly.  And although I can verbosely point out all my excuses on why I did not do it, I’d rather not.

It’s almost the end of 2008.  Let’s put that part of the past, agreed? (more…)
